Radon Measurement

radon-measurementRadon Measurement is a simple, non-invasive test that can be conducted by A.D.P. Inspections, Inc. of Frederick, MD in as little as 48 hours to determine if Radon gas is present in your home.
The inspector will need access to the home to initially place the measurement device, and to retrieve the device upon completion of the test.  An analysis can generally be provided at the completion of the inspection.  An informational brochure on Radon will also be provided in conjunction with the test. Not all inspectors are equal.  Certification is not a Maryland state requirement, however, to better serve our customers, we have chosen to be certified and recognized by the National Environmental Health Association – National Radon Proficiency Program.

What is Radon?

Radon is a cancer-causing, naturally occurring, radioactive gas that you can’t see, smell or taste. Its presence in your home can pose a danger to your family’s health. Radon is the leading cause of lung cancer among non-smokers and the second leading cause of lung cancer in America.  This form of cancer claims about 20,000 lives annually. (www.epa.gov/radon/)

Radon can also be present in your water; gas can dissolve and accumulate in underground water sources and permeate into your drinking water supply.  A separate Radon Water Test can be performed to ensure that your water is safe for consumption

What can I do if Radon is detected?

First and foremost – Don’t Panic.  In most cases, radon is easily mitigated by a trained professional. Contact a licensed professional Radon Mitigation company.
Listing for these professionals can be found through either of the organizations below:
The National Environmental Health Association (NEHA) www.neha-nrpp.org
The National Radon Safety Board (NRSB) www.nrsb.org

Once mitigation has been completed, we can conduct a Post-Mitigation Radon Measurement Clearance Test.  We act as an unbiased third party to ensure that your mitigation was successful.  Please Contact Us to schedule your Clearance Test.
